For 30 years, the choir has brought your favourite pop songs to life, and this year we do it with a full complement of instruments including keys, organ, guitar, bass, and drums. With familiar favourites and brand new works, this concert is destined for the top of the charts.

PopCappella II features choral covers of songs made famous by The Weeknd, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Cliff, A-ha, Caribou, Tegan and Sara, Indigo Girls, and The Proclaimers as well as classic standards and original works by Don Macdonald and Jodi Proznick.

    Juno-nominated bassist, composer, bandleader, and educator Jodi Proznick has earned a reputation as one of Canada’s finest jazz artists. She has won numerous National Jazz Awards, including Bassist of the Year in ’08 and ’09. Her group, the Jodi Proznick Quartet, was awarded the Acoustic Group of the Year and Album of the Year in ‘08 and the Galaxie Rising Star at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival in ‘04.

    This iconic anthem of hope and encouragement acquires an even deeper level of meaning in this setting for the Choir of Lions.

  • Keith Sinclair

    Keith Sinclair has been making music for over 20 years. He is primarily a guitar player and vocalist and has performed as a solo artist and as a sideman with a wide range of local and international artists. His time singing with Chor Leoni has nurtured his love of arranging and his music is now sung by choirs around the world.

  • Liam MacDonald

    Equally in demand for his drumsset playing as well as a multi-percussionist, Liam MacDonald has contributed to an extremely eclectic mix of projects throughout his career. He has recorded and performed with a diverse range of international artists including David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, Marc Ribot, Matt Anderson, Harry Manx, Jim Byrnes, John Boutte, Celso Machado, and D.O.A.

  • Tim Woodford

    Recently appointed as Director of Music at Vancouver’s St. Andrew’s-Wesley, Tim Woodford has conducted and performed (piano, organ, voice) in the UK and abroad, as well as conducted and performed on the Proms on BBC television and ITV. He has performed for many celebrities including the Royal Family, Sir David Attenborough, and The Archbishop of Canterbury.
