  8. It was too loud! Whoever was mixing it could have lowered the volume considerably.it might have been easier to hear the parts less distorted.

  9. LOVED the concert. Take 6 has been my favourite a cappella group since the late 80’s. We were sitting in the boxes and I’m not convinced the sound was always the best there. It seemed quite fuzzy, and the lead vocals were not as present as they could have been. But in spite of that, it was a fabulous show- they are so tight and accomplished, with such a good blend. Would love to see them again.

  13. Outstanding musicianship – presentation – performance – they rocked the world in 1989 and still rock it harder today! A privilege to be in the room with these musicians. 38 years of sharing the road of musical excellence – how could one miss the chance to hear what comes out of their mouths, hearts and souls!?!
Thank you, Chor Leoni for bringing these amazing people and singers to Vancouver! Thank you!

  16. I loved their blend and pitch. However, overall the sound was too loud.A shame. Their encore piece Hallelujah was not too loud and was so lovely. The bass voice was amazing. I could have listened to him all night. Also the singing duel was so impressive. And the long phrasing, not taking a breath for ages! Their rhythm! Their sounding like instruments!
I wish they had done hip hop too. And a few more familiar tunes.
I also wish they hadn’t kept talking about Vancouver. Granted, this is a beautiful city but you know they will say the same things about the next place they perform in.This is, I think, to get the audience enthusiastic but is so old.
I applaud their musicianship and thank Chor Leoni for bringing them to Vancouver.

  23. What an outstanding performance by these talented men of God. It is so refreshing to be in a theatre, to hear voices and song, both secular and that of faith and know that the performers give the glory to our God.

It was upbeat, rhythm clapping and the sounds those men could make – it made a cappella sound like a full piece band at time. Looking forward to their return, sooner than later.

  25. Hard to really judge the quality of the group when it was so badly produced. Too loud, poorly balanced most of the time, so most of it seemed pretty muddy without any clear definition of the harmonies.

  26. Very lively. Kept the audience attention throughout. Excellent stage presents and coreo. I would have liked more ballads with pure harmony and no back ground rhythm

  27. Loved their performance, but went back home afterwards and played their first album again so I could really hear those fabulous harmonies. There are some groups that you have to hear live, and some in which the amplification of “live” means that you lose detail – sadly, this was one of those.
Great performance, wonderful personalities, good connection with audience – thanks for bringing them here!

  32. This concert was brought to my attention in a class at SFU called “Gospel Music from the Church to the Street Corner”. What a great evening! The musical talent, humour and the faith evident still have me singing – and adding them to my playlist!

  34. Loved take 6 concert – one thing was annoying – the sound was MUCH too loud at the beginning for 2 or 3 songs – calmed down before they got to quieter numbers sitting on the chairs. I guess someone noticed. It was so loud all we could hear was blasting noise, no words at all for two songs. It might have had something to do with sitting in Row 15 seats 19 & 20 which put us in the centermost part of the left side.

  35. Wow, what can I say. Words like “amazing” don’t carry as much weight as before. But Take 6 was amazing, the kind of amazing that covers you in goosebumps, that makes you hold your breath, or lean in to get a few inches closer to the stage, or wipe tears from your eyes. But also, they astutely throw in interludes of lighter moments, being silly and funny to get the audience to laugh, and even sing a little. The wide range of musical genres also added to what was already a brilliant show. And the surprising highlight of the night was that the audience cheered and roared more than ever and demanded an encore, which is not usual in this city. Where else can you hear rich, intertwining voices, invigorating baritone beatbox rhythms, and harmony so tight that it seems like magic? Thank you for bringing them here!

  36. I generally pride myself on being familiar with the best of the best in a wide variety of genres, from plainchant to progressive metal. Somehow I missed these guys entirely. Shame on me. What a fantastic show musically and visually. If I hadn’t hitched my wagon to Chor Leoni I’d have really missed out.
