Opening concert of the 2019 VanMan Male Choral Summit

Cantus Male Vocal ensemble, hailed by Fanfare magazine as “the premier men’s vocal ensemble in the United States,” shares the stage with Canada’s beloved Chor Leoni in a collaborative concert to open the 2019 VanMan Male choral Summit. Cantus, founded by Chor Leoni’s own Erick Lichte at St. Olaf college in 1995, arrives for its Vancouver debut in a concert which will feature the best of both ensembles and the full scope of male choral singing.

  4. I loved it. It was interesting to see the very different styles that the two men’s vocal groups could offer. I especially enjoyed the hilarious, sad and beautiful suite of Future Folksongs. I found myself both swept up by the transcendent music of Mountain Song and Screen Song and jarred by the libretto, tender words about cold technology and the destruction of our earth from global warming. It was brilliant work.

  5. Incredible, moving, fun. Loved the folk songs for the future and Cantus’s “healing” philosophy of life songs.

  9. Absolutely loved both concerts. I loved Cantus and hope we will see them back in Vancouver sometime in the near future. My favourite piece, Rise Again, was transformed by having it sung by 300 male voices. Wow!!
