  1. The C4 evening was a tribute to the creative process of composing. Three talented music lovers used the skills of the choir to paint soundscapes that were unique and ethereal with poems ranging from the Bard to Canadian writers. The interviews and Q & A with the engaged audience (and choir) members provided a window into the work involved and the manner in which through the workshop process the vision of the composer becomes realized. The two songs that were sung while the judges made their decision were ear candy that has propelled ‘The Lions’ to their glowing reputation started by Diane and moving forward with Erick’s diligent leadership. A music event not to be missed!

  2. This format of perform-discuss-re-perform is not just informative. It’s also very entertaining. For the music lover who is musically less-educated like me, it’s an opportunity to learn about the arc of the composer’s creative process and the performers’ interpretation of a brand new work. And the engagement of composer, director, singers and audience in a conversation blending curiosity, critical assessment and humour is alone worth the price of admission! Kudos to Chor Leoni for this innovative choral event!

  3. As always a thoroughly enjoyable evening. All three compositions were moving and beautifully sung. I don’t envy the judges. The informality and questions were great. I look forward to hearing more of these pieces. Thank you.

  4. A cozy venue and nice conductor, good-natured, hilarious, in a kind, self-deprecating way. The three musicians were articulate and life-time-immersed, so the sharing let us see into the lives and minds of creative people at the height of their craft. I loved the strategy of hear-it-twice, sandwiching stories that go with their piece on the pedestal. Maybe it is often done this way? Really enjoyed the evening.
