About The Season
2019 / 2020
The second half of our 2019/20 season includes projects with Ensemble La Nef and Early Music Vancouver, author and CBC icon Bill Richardson, and violinist Cameron Wilson.
Rollicking songs of the sea and haunting laments are on deck for Sea Songs & Shanties (Feb 22nd) as Chor Leoni joins Montreal’s Ensemble La Nef, musicians from Early Music Vancouver, and conductor Seán Daghur on stage at the Chan Centre.
In early April we’re joined by acclaimed CBC icon, author, and humorist Bill Richardson for the remounting of Cadillac Cathedral (April 4th at Vancouver’s York Theatre, April 5th at West Vancouver United). Old-Time, Bluegrass and Folk music accompanied by fiddle, guitar, and bass, illuminate a heartwarming story in this mix of story and song.
The VanMan Male Choral Summit highlights one of Europe’s most exciting new vocal ensembles, M’ANAM. Their music infuses the lore of Ireland and Iceland into both ancient and modern songs and we can’t wait to sing with them April 24th at M’ANAM & Chor Leoni.
The next day brings the 300+ voices of the Summit Concert together a showcase displaying the magnificent range of the male voice, from goosebump-raising tenderness to spine-tingling full-throated power.
Chor Leoni’s C/4 Canadian Choral Composition Competition returns to ANNEX (May 27) for a relaxed, entertaining, and intimate look at new music. Over this interactive evening, the audience will meet the finalists, enjoy premieres of their new works, and participate in an engaging discussion led by Artistic Director Erick Lichte.
